Divisionals Week Poinsettia Notes and Reminders
Greetings Pirate Family,
Congratulations on wrapping up our regular swim meet schedule! We’ve got a lot happening this week, so let’s dive into the details, organized by category:
Practices This Week
We’ll follow our regular morning practice schedule Monday through Thursday. There will be no Friday morning practice—take the day to rest and gear up for the big meet.
Monday evening: Regular practice will be held. Afterward, at 7:00 p.m., Roberto, myself, and a few others will be available for swimmers who want to fine-tune a specific aspect of their stroke or technique. This is completely optional and not intended for major overhauls—but if we can help shave off a bit of time with small adjustments, we’re happy to help! We’ll be available for about 30–60 minutes, depending on interest.
Tuesday evening: No practice. Coaches will be finalizing entries and attending the Gold Division meeting.
Wednesday evening: Practice as usual.
Thursday evening: No practice. Instead, we’ll have our Pasta Pump-Up dinner to get ready for the big meet!
Social Events
We’ve got a full week of fun planned! A detailed calendar is attached to this email—huge thanks to Emily for putting that together. Be sure to check it out for the full schedule, but here are a few highlights:
- Pirate Pals – Our swimming version of “Secret Santa.” If your swimmer wants to participate, they’ll draw a name and bring a few of that swimmer’s favorite items for the big meet.
- Pasta Pump-Up Dinner – Join us Thursday at 6:00 p.m. at the pavilion by the pool for a team dinner. Please sign up in Swimtopia to bring an item and let us know what you’ll contribute.
- End-of-Year Banquet – Our awards banquet will be Sunday, June 29 at 6:00 p.m. Please RSVP in Swimtopia so we can plan food accordingly. Food is provided for swimmers, family members/guests will pay a small fee.
Divisionals Notes
This is considered a Championship Meet and a long event, so plan accordingly:
- Swimmers should bring snacks (nothing that causes GI upset), water/drinks, and calm entertainment (books, cards, etc.).
- The meet is split between Friday evening and Saturday morning by age. Make sure you know which day your swimmer competes.
- Stay tuned for more specific emails with arrival times, heat sheets, and assignments.
Important: For championship meets, if a swimmer scratches an event, they are not allowed to swim the rest of the meet. If a swimmer misses an event or can't be found when called, they're done for the day—this can significantly affect relays, so please ensure swimmers stay in the tent area and listen for announcements.
Additionally, per SAIL regulations, there is a $50 scratch fee per event if a swimmer is signed up but doesn’t compete.
👉 Please indicate your swimmer’s availability by tomorrow!
We’re looking forward to an exciting, activity-packed week and can’t wait to see everyone. Please refer to the attached calendar for all practice and social event times.
Go Pirates!
